Welcome to our chapter website!
I am Josephine Pinto, a parishioner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and a stay-at-home mom with 5 girls (ages 11, 9, 7, 3, and 1). I did not experience homeschool until I moved from the DFW area to Tyler, TX in 2010. I have had the privilege of meeting many home-schooling families here and two of them actually let me shadow them throughout the day to show me how possible and beneficial it is. One of the families had 4 boys and the time and the other had 3 girls. Without these generous families that shared their time with me, I would not have chosen to home-school my own children. Discipline, consistency, and motivation are extremely difficult for both teachers (parents) and students which is why a support group is so desperately needed. I found a Christian Classical group that helped tremendously, and it introduced me to the amazing Classical Method of education. This group was nice, because it centered life around God, but I was not happy that it did not recognize God’s Holy and Apostolic Church. I am so excited to have started Catholic Schoolhouse in East Texas with Milissa Kukla because it does just that: it keeps both God and His Church at the source of truth. Our family has come to believe that homeschooling families that center everything on Christ and His Church, are the monasteries of the 21st century.
