Tyler Texas Chapter – Catholicschoolhouse

Meet the Directors

We, Josephine Pinto and Milissa Kukla, co-directors of Tyler, TX Catholic Schoolhouse, welcome you to our chapter web site!

Josephine Pinto – I am a parishioner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. I am a stay-at-home mom with 3 girls (ages 7, 5, and 3). I did not experience home-school until I moved from the DFW area to Tyler, TX in 2010. I have had the privilege of meeting many home-schooling families here and 2 of them actually let me shadow them throughout the day to show me how possible and beneficial it is. One of the families had 4 boys and the time and the other had 3 girls. Without these generous families that shared their time with me, I would not have chosen to home-school my own children. Discipline, consistency, and motivation are extremely difficult for both teachers (parents) and students which is why a support group is so desperately needed. I found a Christian Classical group that helped tremendously, and it introduced me to the amazing Classical Method of education. This group is nice, because it centers life around God, but I was not happy that it did not recognize God’s Holy and Apostolic Church. I am so excited to start Catholic Schoolhouse in East Texas because it does just that. It keeps both God and His Church at the source of truth. Our family has come to believe that home-schooling families, that center everything on Christ and His Church, are the monasteries of the 21 century.

Milissa Kukla – Hello! My husband & I are parishioners at St. Joseph the Worker in Tyler. We were married in our home state of Michigan in 2008 and moved to Texas the same day. I like to say we went on our honeymoon and never came back. 😊 We have four children, three girls and one boy. They range in age from two up to ten. When we first had children, I thought I would NEVER homeschool. But as I grew deeper in my relationship with God, He tugged at my heart strings and gave me the grace I needed to say “yes” to this very rewarding journey. In much the same way, God brought Catholic Schoolhouse into my life. I did not realize what a blessing this group could be for my family until I visited a chapter in Louisiana with my children. They loved it, and I loved watching them grow in just that one day of participating in the group. We are all looking forward to see how God will bless us through Tyler TX Catholic Schoolhouse. God is doing something amazing here, and I look forward to you being part of that journey with us.
